In this blog and video, I’ve got another delicious, easy-to-make wild game recipe coming your way: wild turkey shish kabobs. Shish kabobs (or shish kebobs if you prefer!) are simply meat and vegetables that are cooked on skewers over an open fire. This form of cooking originated in Middle Eastern and Asian countries where lamb, poultry, and fish were commonly cooked on wooden skewers, but over the years shish kabobs have become very popular in America as well, especially among outdoor enthusiasts, as it’s a great way to prepare wild game meat such as turkey. So let’s get cooking!
Wild Turkey Shish Kabobs
Serving Size 4-6
- ½ wild turkey breast
- 8-ounce package of mushrooms
- 7-8 small sweet peppers
- 1 large sweet onion
- Italian salad dressing
- Black pepper
- Garlic powder
- Wooden or metal skewers
Step #1 – Go turkey hunting!
Step #2 – Cut turkey breast into 1-2 inch cubes and marinate in Italian dressing for at least 30 minutes.
Step #3 – Chop vegetables into 2-inch pieces.
Step #4 – Arrange meat and vegetables on skewers to your liking. (Tip: Presoak wooden skewers in water to inhibit burning)
Step #5 – Spray grill with cooking spray to prevent sticking, place kabobs on grill, and season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder to taste.
Step #6 – Grill for 20 minutes over medium heat while rotating kabobs every five minutes. Baste with additional Italian dressing.
Step #7 – Serve immediately or set aside in a pan to serve later. Add beer to pan to keep kabobs moist and juicy.
There you have it my friends, wild turkey shish kabobs. Delicious! I hope you’ll give this recipe a try. Check out the video below to see more.
