This blog article a continuation of the last wild game venison recipe I shared, the steamed Chinese dumplings. As I mentioned in that blog and video, depending on how much of the venison mixture you stuff into the dumplings, you very well may have a fair amount of that mixture leftover, which works out perfectly for making venison fried rice. So let’s get cooking….
Venison Fried Rice
Serving Size – 4
Step #1 – Prepare Venison
- Brown 1 ½ pounds of ground venison in a pan with olive oil
- Season lightly with salt and black pepper
- Cook 3 to 4 cups of brown or white rice and set aside
Step #2 – Combine Ingredients and Mix Together Thoroughly
- Browned venison
- 1 ½ cup finely chopped cabbage
- 1 ½ cup finely chopped or shredded carrots
- 3 finely diced garlic cloves
- 2 finely chopped green onions
- 1 tablespoon ginger (paste or freshly ground)
- 3 tablespoons olive oil
- 3 tablespoons white wine
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 teaspoons sesame oil
- ½ teaspoon white (or black) pepper
- 1 teaspoon sugar
Step #3
- Heat up rice in a frying pan with olive oil and slightly brown
- Add one beaten egg
- Stir in venison mixture
Step #4
- Serve and enjoy!
