If you love pulled pork or BBQ beef-style sandwiches then you’ll love this recipe. Even though I refer to it as “BBQ Buck” sandwiches, you can, of course make this from the meat of either a buck or a doe and from any deer species, including moose, elk, caribou, and it’s also great when made from wild pig, black bear, and other commonly eaten wild game animals. So let’s get cooking!
BBQ Buck Sandwiches
Serving Size 4 – 6
Ingredients:
- 3 to 4 lbs venison cut into small chunks
- 1 finely chopped onion
- Water
- 1 Bay leaf
- 1 Tablespoon ground black pepper
- 2 Tablespoons of salt
- 1 Tablespoon garlic powder or minced garlic
Step #1
- Cut 3 to 4 pounds of venison into small chunks and place in slow cooker
Step #2
- Add finely chopped onion and fill slow cooker with water to an inch above meat
Step #3
- Add bay leaf, black pepper, salt, garlic, and mix thoroughly
Step #4
- Slow cook for 3 to 4 hours
Step #5
- Remove meat from slow cooker and strain out excess juice
Step #6
- Shred meat
- Add BBQ sauce of choice (to taste) and optional hot sauce and mix thoroughly
- Return meat to slow cooker and keep warm until serving
Step #7
- Serve over bread of choice
- Add cheese and other toppings of your choice
- Enjoy!!!
