A natural impulse that many humans seem to have when encountering a wild animal is to get closer to have a better look. In areas where wildlife is at least somewhat conditioned to human presence, animals can be somewhat tolerant of people watching them or photographing them, if it’s done at a respectful, safe distance and in a respectful, safe manner. In places of truly wild nature, however, where humans are not regular guests, invading an animal’s primary habitat or trying to get in close for viewing or photography opportunities can have disastrous consequences, for both the animals and humans.
Wild animals that live in areas of true wilderness don’t tolerate human presence well. Wildlife that is pressured too much by invading people will often move out of the area, sometimes permanently. As a result, those animals might not get the proper food they need for themselves or their young, it can cause them to leave a safe sanctuary area and put them at risk for predation, it can force them out of ideal bedding areas, and disrupt their lives in many other ways. Not to mention, large, potentially dangerous animals can sometimes become very aggressive when disturbed by people.
An essential tool for viewing wildlife in a safe, respectful manner, from a safe, respectful distance is a quality pair of binoculars. I recently field-tested the Hyper Clarity 8 x 42 binoculars from Fujifilm USA and was quite impressed. The 8 x 42 power lenses are perfect for the majority of wildlife viewing applications. They have a bright, crystal-clear field of view and are optimized especially for nature and wildlife observation. They’re ergonomically designed to fit comfortably in your hands and are easy and smooth to operate, which greatly enhances overall stability when viewing. They’re also very comfortable on the eyes and can be used just as effectively for those who wear glasses.
Another feature which I really like, and which is especially important for wildlife viewing optics, is that they’re designed to perform in harsh conditions. The Hyper Clarity binoculars have a rugged, magnesium body that’s both fog-proof and water-resistant for trouble-free operation. So if you’re looking for a great pair of quality binoculars for your outdoor adventures, especially nature and wildlife viewing, then check out Fujifilm’s Hyper Clarity 8×42’s.
