There are few things as heartbreaking for a fisherman or fisherwoman than to lose a big fish…especially if it’s a once in a lifetime trophy-sized fish. What’s even more heartbreaking, however, is to lose that fish because attaching your terminal tackle to your line with a faulty or inferior knot. In this second episode of the series, we’ll take a look at the palomar knot. This is another reliable knot for connecting a lure, hook, or other terminal tackle items to your main line. It’s a little faster and easier to tie than the fisherman’s knot and it’s extremely strong, making it a great choice for tying on tackle such as large jigs or crankbaits for bass fishing, or for large hooks when going after big, strong fish such as catfish, carp, or saltwater fish such as halibut.
